Phantasmagoria II is the second set of a series of primary-coloured whimsical illustrations. The characters and themes are loosely connected to each other, sharing a universe, but are not part of a common storyline. This was a stylistic burst of creativity I had, trying to discover new styles I could work in, potentially for a storybook or exhibition.
The bovine animal in the middle represents the Aurorchs: the extinct ancestor of modern domestic cattle. I made this piece out of grieve for animals humans had a relationship with for thousands of years, but are now forever lost. In the future I will make a separate series on extinction grief based on this seedling work.
